2023 NHL Trade Deadline

Taking Stock: A look at the New Jersey Devils' prospect pool ahead of the 2023 NHL trade deadline

The New Jersey Devils are captivating. They’ve grabbed points on 70 percent of their games, but there’s plenty of room for improvement, whether that’s tactically or roster construction.

There’s plenty of help on the way. The Devils’ prospect pool earned the No. 9 rank, inflated by a trio of top prospects, held back a lack of depth. The top prospects remain top prospects, but with the season winding down, it’s clear they aren’t short of talent.

They have many late-round prospects who deserve attention this season. Josh Filmon’s breakout goal-scoring campaign is the most noteworthy, but how about Topias Vilén's impressive season? These are just some of the exciting prospects we won’t cover in this piece. It’s an exciting time for the Devils.
