New Jersey Devils sign Timo Meier to 8-year, $70.4 million extension

The New Jersey Devils and forward Timo Meier have reached an eight-year, $70.4 million contract extension. 

The deal carries an eight-year $8.8 million AAV. 

Meier was acquired by New Jersey this past February from the San Jose Sharks in a multi-player deal. He is at the end of a four-year, $24 million deal he signed with the Sharks in July of 2019.

Meier scored nine goals and added five assists in 21 games with the Devils down the stretch of the regular season, adding two goals and two assists in 11 Stanley Cup Playoff games. He finished the 2022-23 season with 40 goals and 26 assists in 78 games.
