Scout's notebook: Checking in on some of NHL Central Scouting's top-rated Swedish defence prospects
In last month's Scout's Notebook, I took a closer look at draft-eligible forwards from Finland who were rated highly by the NHL Central Scouting in their mid-season rankings.
Now, it's time to do the same for Swedish defencemen.
Leo Sahlin Wallenius, Alfons Freij, and Dominik Badinka have all been talked about a lot in this draft cycle, but in this article, I'll explore the names behind the big three who have still generated some buzz in the industry.
Gabriel Eliasson, D, HV71 J20
Ranked 21st on Central Scouting's mid-season board, it's not hard to see what scouts are drawn to with Gabriel Eliasson: He's listed at 6-foot-6, over 200 pounds, and he's also one of the most violent prospects in his class.
He's never seen a hit he didn't want to complete or a crosscheck he didn't want to dish out.
